All the videos...all the time!
Get your remix on...but I have to comment on something real quick. Some beats are extremely unique in that they provide the listener a new sort of audio pleasure. So when an artist touches base on that track, it makes it a banger and a classic for the fans to listen to. Many beats are brought to the limelight by extremely talented and legendary artists such as Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye, Nas and others. Some beats are essentially what put artists on the map...like Chief Keef's I Don't Like, 2 Chainz and his many stripper anthems, or go back to Mobb Deep with Shook Ones Pt. 2.
Now some of these beats should be left alone. Some of them are primed for a remix. And when a remix is called for, its excellent. Then you get some mindless cats grabbing the beat and making it there own, or tacking on a verse (with very little effort the majority of the time). If you're going to adlib on a beat for 16 bars and then just play the regular song, then get out of here. You're wasting people's time. Sometimes (very rare) you get guys who come and just destroy it. A good example is Jay-Z and Kanye's Otis. I've heard many renditions. They all took away from the beauty of the Otis Redding sample and the absolute dominance Ye and HOV provided. But then I heard Busta Rhymes and DMX on it and I was blown away.
All I'm saying is I hope artists who are trying to make a name for themselves isn't doing so with complete saturation of the game. It works in some cases...but other times I can't stand going through my iTunes playlist and seeing 5-6 copies of the same song with the guy just dropping weak bars about cars, money, women and ice. 2 Chainz said it best in a recent interview:
I think we should just make more original compositions so we can keep music moving forward. When you remix the same song it kinda stagnates the process, unless of course it calls for a remix. But when 10 people do the same song I don’t know how you can say who’s the best, and then after so many people do it, who really cares?
